Effective January 1, 2006, due to the defeat of Ballot Question 8, private party sales of vehicles become fully exempt from all sales and use tax. There will be no tax on vehicles sold by private parties on or after January 1, 2006. Vehicles sold by private parties prior to January 1, 2006 will remain subject to tax
